2nd ANNOUNCEMENT
The International Conference
FACTORIZATION, SINGULAR OPERATORS AND RELATED PROBLEMS
in honour of Gueorguii Litvinchuk on his 70th anniversary
January 28 - February 1, 2002
in Funchal (Madeira Island, Portugal)

We are organizing the International Conference FSORP-Madeira 2002 dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Professor Gueorguii Litvinchuk, an internationally known mathematician, professor at the University of Madeira. The Conference will honour Professor Gueorguii Litvinchuk's many contributions to the theory of singular integral operators, singular integral equations with shifts, factorization problems and other related topics, as well as his many years of activity in the creation of a strong scientific school.

General Information

The program of the conference consists of invited lectures (about 50 min.) and 30 min. talks given by the other participants. We expect that Proceedings of the Conference will be published.

If you have not yet registered, please fill the pre-registration at this web site, entering into the page http://www.digiways.com/fsorp/registration/

The speakers are requested to submit an abstract of their talks electronically on the same page. http://www.digiways.com/fsorp/registration/

The deadline for registration and submission of abstracts is December 15, 2001. For people registering after this date we cannot guarantee a place in the program. Submission of abstracts after that date may be too late for their inclusion into the booklet of abstracts.

Participants who need an official invitation letter from the Organizing Committee with the purpose of obtaining visa in their countries are requested to contact Prof. Amarino Lebre, by e-mail to alebre@math.ist.utl.pt or by FAX to (351) 218417598.

Conference Building
The conference will be held at Tecnopolo building in the Campus of the University of Madeira. A shuttle connection between the hotels and the conference building will be provided.

Conference Fee
The Conference fee for participants is 150 Euros if paid up to October 31, 2001, and 170 Euros after this date but until January 7, 2002. The Conference fee may be paid via bank transfer to:

Exceptionally for people coming from countries belonging to the former Soviet Union the conference fee is 80 Euro and can be paid upon arrival for the conference.

Accomodation
Participants are requested to arrange for accomodation as soon as possible by filling in the form at http://www.digiways.com/fsorp/accomodation/. The travel agency that will take care of hotel reservations is JFM tours and the person in this travel agency that is in charge of this is Filipa Fernandes, which you can contact via e-mail to sedeinc@jfmtours.pt A room in a hotel can cost between 36 and 56 Euro per day. This price already includes. transportation between the airport and the hotel.

For younger people (up to 30 years) a small number of rooms in a youth hostal are available at a price of about 19 Euro per day. You can find more details on this subject at http://www.digiways.com/fsorp/accomodation/.

Arrival and Departure
Participants are requested to inform the Organizing Committee through the travel agency JFM tours about the dates of their arrival and departure together with flight numbers. This information should be given to Filipa Fernandes via e-mail: sedeinc@jfmtours.pt

Social Program
A special program is being organized, which includes a conference dinner and a sightseeing tour in Madeira Island. Accompanying persons and interested participants can choose their own program from the alternatives presented by the travel agency JFM tours that will be described in the web page http://www.digiways.com/fsorp/information/

The conference FSORP-Madeira 2002 is sponsored by Centro de Matemática Aplicada of Instituto Superior Técnico, by University of Madeira and by University of Algarve. Support is also provided by Madeira Tecnopolo. Some additional financial support is also expected from some other institutions.
